Application Elements

A number of elements are required for your University of Richmond admission application to be complete. In addition to the elements listed below, most students will also submit materials to the Financial Aid Office.

Regular Decision Applicants

Check the application timeline for the deadline for these and other steps in the application process. A complete admission application will include:

  • Common Application
  • Richmond Supplement
  • $50 application fee or acceptable fee waiver form; fee may be paid by credit card via Common Application or by check after paper or electronic application is submitted
  • Official high school transcript(s) showing grades 9–11 (with raised school seal or school official’s original signature)
  • Required recommendation from guidance counselor or school official: only one recommendation is required, and a maximum of three will be accepted
  • First semester/trimester senior grades
  • Standardized test results: Scores from the SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT (American College Test) can be submitted. Where SAT scores are submitted, the University will use the highest subscores on the verbal, math, and writing sections if the test is taken more than one time. Richmond's testing code is 5569 for the SAT and 4410 for the ACT.

Early Decision Applicants

Check the application timeline for the deadline for these and other steps in the application process. A complete Early Decision admission application will include all of the elements of the regular decision application, as well as:

  • First quarter/trimester grades instead of first semester/trimester grades
  • Early Decision Contract
  • Fall Early Decision applicants can submit scores from November SAT tests and/or the October ACT as long as they are sent directly from the testing agency.

International Applicants

Transfer Applicants

  • Common Application

  • List of current courses, including course numbers, titles, and number of credit hours
  • Course descriptions
  • For evaluating college coursework, provide college catalogs or photocopied course descriptions of all academic work completed and in progress
  • Official college/university transcripts sent directly from each college/university attended
  • Official secondary school form (with transcript and recommendation by school official)
  • Letter of recommendation from an academic source at the college level is encouraged, but not required
  • TOEFL scores (for students whose native language is not English)
  • If taken, Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate official score reports
