Why are there two ways to apply?
The University of Richmond currently offers both the Common Application and the Richmond Web Application as methods for students to apply. The Common Application is often used by students who are applying to multiple institutions who accept the Common Application. The Common Application may be submitted electronically by students who create an account with the Common Application Web site. The Richmond Web Application was designed for those students who want to submit an application to the University of Richmond without the use of the Common Application. The Richmond Web Application in an online experience which includes within the application the required application supplement materials allowing students to submit all materials at once.

Is one method preferred over the other?
No. In fact, the two applications are almost identical in the information they ask for and the format in which it is asked. The University of Richmond has no preference which application a student elects to submit. Both are equally considered in the admissions process, with neither given favor over the other.

Do I have to finish the application process in one session, or all at once?
No. Both applications allow students to utilize a user name and password format, affording students the opportunity to work through the application at any pace in multiple sessions if a student desires. As a student enters information, the information is saved and can be edited later as a student progresses toward the submission of the application.

Can I pay the application fee by credit card?
Students who submit an online application may pay by credit card. Credit card payment instructions are provided when one submits the Common Application online or the Richmond Web Application.

Can I print out the Richmond Web Application and mail it in?
No. The Richmond Web Application was created as an entirely online process. Those students who prefer to submit an application by mail should use the Common Application which can be printed and mailed in.
