Do's and Don'ts for College Fairs

Do...

  • Review this website in its entirety prior to the program.
  • Make sure that you have an adequate supply of materials for the program. Contact the Office of Admission if your materials have not arrived at least four days before the program.
  • Confirm the correct date and time of the program; refer to the invitation provided by the Office of Admission.
  • Verify that you have accurate directions and/or maps to the event.
  • Arrive at the fair location at least a half an hour prior to the start of the program.
  • Dress professionally.
  • Familiarize yourself with recent University of Richmond developments by reading admission materials, the University's Web site, and alumni publications. Changes occur constantly and Richmond is not the same school it was even five years ago.
  • Smile and enjoy yourself. Above all, be friendly and personable. You are the University of Richmond to your community.
  • Submit your college fair evaluation online.
  • Send the inquiry cards back to us immediately.  We will respond to the students as soon as possible (usually within a matter of a few days).
  • Tell us about any additional fairs in your area.
  • Contact the Office of Admission if you have any questions or concerns after the college fair.

Do Not...

  • Use any hard-sell methods to promote Richmond.
  • Pressure students to fill out inquiry cards if they are not genuinely interested in Richmond.
  • Attempt to answer a question from a prospective student or parent if you are unsure about the answer. 
  • Predict a student's admission decision. These decisions are made only when complete information is available. The Office of Admission needs to see the full picture.
