College Alma Mater: University of Richmond, major in Liberal Arts
Connection between my studies and my career: Is there any better way to be prepared to explain the benefits of a strong liberal arts education at a top-tier college such as Richmond? I was privileged to explore several fields of study (with my favorites in English and communication) alongside of lifelong learners as well as many traditional University of Richmond students. Learning how to read and think more critically, express my views more clearly, and understand the how and why of other students¿ points of view enriched me personally and professionally.
Favorite thing to do in Richmond on the weekends: Although I don¿t come into the city every weekend, I enjoy visiting the art museum and Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. And, of course, I always try to engineer a way to stay just long enough to stay for dinner at a fun, non-chain restaurant.
Favorite spot on campus: I like The Forum. It is a great place to people watch, and I always see someone I know or meet someone new.
A memorable recruitment story: I met a young man, his mom, and two of his grandparents during an on-campus event for accepted students. The student was wide-eyed and excited as he learned more about Richmond, and the grandparents were enjoying the atmosphere of our beautiful campus. His mom pulled me aside as we walked and spoke to me with tears in her eyes and on her cheeks. She said that her son would be the first in their entire family to go to college and the University¿s need-based financial aid package was making it possible. She was so proud of him and grateful to the University of Richmond for this great gift. So was I!
