Favorite Richmond neighborhood: Church Hill, where I live - a great community, great parks with great views, great access to downtown, and great restaurants (especially Patrick Henry's and the Hill Café). Second would be the River District, because I love city life along the James - restaurants, running, outdoors, festivals, etc.
A question you get all the time: What's your average GPA? See the admission blog for my answer.
A memorable recruitment story: At the Pittsburgh National College Fair last winter, I got stuck on an elevator with 20 other admission counselors trying to get to one of the sessions. We were in there, packed like sardines, for a good 25 or 30 minutes before we were rescued. The funny thing is, it didn't faze anybody - with all the travel we do, things going wrong is pretty much a given, so we're used to it. No one was claustrophobic, and the February weather kept things pretty cool, so we spent the time laughing and swapping other crazy recruitment stories as if nothing was wrong.
The number one reason students should check out Richmond: The cross-disciplinary opportunities combined with the small, personal liberal arts setting are truly unique.
