Richmond is an academically impressive school with professors who care about you, attention given to every student, and challenging but rewarding courses. Richmond is its own beautiful campus but is only ten minutes from downtown Richmond, meaning opportunities for community service, internships, and fun. The UR community is incredibly strong and supportive and is a wonderful second home.

Academically, it would be challenging but it also would give me time to explore what I would like to major in and it offers the Jepson School of Leadership which cannot be found at other universities. Socially, it offers many different organizations encouraging people to become actively involved in what interests them most from student government to greek life to community service. Culturally, the university encourages students to discover the world beyond campus through the study abroad program.

I chose to come to Richmond because of the Richmond Promise. When learning about the Richmond Promise I found that each principle reminded me of what I was looking in my college search. Attending Richmond has allowed me to see this promise take its course. I participate in an integrated academic experience through IQS (Integrated Quantitative Science), an interdisciplinary science course. Diversity and inclusivity are embodied through the spirit of One Richmond. Access and affordability of the university are seen through our bold program of financial aid. I have been able to actively engage within the city of Richmond through the Center for Civic Engagement and my student experience has been enriched through a university-funded summer research opportunity.
