International students and candidates living abroad make up an important part of the University of Richmond community. Richmond is an institution where internationalization is a key part of the University experience for all students. We strive for a community filled with excellent students and extraordinary faculty from around the world, from many different backgrounds and perspectives, because when we engage in the process of learning, we all learn more if our beliefs and ways of thinking about the world are challenged.

At Richmond, we define the term "international student" quite broadly, since many American citizens have been educated outside the U.S. and lots of international students live here in the U.S. or are studying here at boarding schools or as exchange students.
